John and Sue Diekman like to keep things simple—straightforward and effective.

They have been passionate supporters of Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) for many years. Sue serves on our board and John is on our honorary board. They were co-chairs of the Paint a Better Future campaign and continue to give thoughtful contributions where they’re needed most.

John and Sue have ensured their legacy by promising a percentage of their estate to HSSV. Though the couple is involved with a number of other nonprofit organizations, they chose HSSV as one of a few to receive gifts through their estate because they have such high regard for the effectiveness of the organization.

“We know and care greatly about the strong leadership, viability and solid financial structure,” Sue says. “And we want to help HSSV remain in that position for many years to come.”

A cash gift in their will was a natural fit. “We chose this type of gift for the sake of simplicity,” John says. “We wanted to make it as easy as possible for everyone involved.”

More than simply being donors, John and Sue are stewards, helping to ensure that HSSV’s work will continue to flourish and reach a greater number of animals and people over time. Sue says, “HSSV is a model in saving animals and matching them with their forever homes.”
