Legacy Gift a Natural for This Couple

Curt and Margaret Weil

Curt and Margaret Weil

Curt and Margaret Weil became acquainted with HSSV many years ago and remember being extremely impressed by a tour of the soon-to-be-opened Animal Community Center in Milpitas. “Everything was so well thought out,” Margaret says, “and we loved the way HSSV’s leadership was driven to become a gold-standard shelter.” Adds Curt, “From the beginning we saw HSSV as a shining example of a well-run organization.”

Both Curt and Margaret have always been big travelers, which is one reason they have cats and have developed a circle of “cat friends” who share responsibilities when their members are away. All of their cats have been adopted from HSSV, and they typically have four cats at any one time, but kitties Fred and Earl think two is just fine right now.

Now in their 70s, Curt and Margaret are retired from careers as financial professionals. When they did their estate planning, it was important to them to ensure that “we were responsible stewards of what we have managed to accumulate.” They were already regular donors to HSSV and had been steadily increasing their contributions, so the legacy program was a natural.

They named HSSV as beneficiary of 10% of their estate, with great confidence in HSSV's mission to ensure the funds are used wisely for decades to come through their endowment, and with a preference that HSSV will rescue, rehabilitate and spay and neuter felines.

According to Curt and Margaret, “Anyone who cares about animals as their companions would have to look a long time before they could find an organization more worthy than HSSV.”
