A Fixture of the Past Saves Future Animals in Need

HarringtonsLong before Gracie and Judy, Jim was a dog volunteer and foster parent at our old Humane Society Silicon Valley facility on Lafayette and Martin, in Santa Clara. Jim was a fixture at HSSV. But then, as Jim's work as a writer for the Oakland Tribune became more demanding, we saw him less and less. We were sad.

But Jim didn't disappear...his "presence" just changed. Jim turned into the guy who would randomly call, text, or email to say, "Hey, do you have any dogs that need some special medical care?"

"Of course!" we'd reply. And then Jim would make a gift from the Harrington family to save a dog in need.

Jim, Nancy, Gracie, and Judy have helped dozens of dogs over the years, like River, Cleo, and Abbie the border collie. Since 2005, starting with a simple $40 gift, the Harringtons have given over $30,000 to support special medical cases. They give what they can, when they can—and with every single gift, they make a difference.

HSSV is committed to saving every animal we can with the resources we have. Committed supporters like the Harringtons—and you!—make this work possible.
